Administrative HistoryWilliam Black was a student of divinity in 1684 when he was appointed Regent of King's College, Aberdeen. He was appointed sub principal in 1711. He was a committed Episcopalian, and in 1714 he was instrumental, with other members of King's College teaching staff, in violently intruding an Episcopalian minister at the church of Old Machar. He was sent to prison and died there the same year.
DescriptionLetter by William Blak for the college to John Murray, thesaurer, Bamff [Banff], regarding payment of arrears of feu duty to King's College, for the waters of Bamff 7 September 1692.
The letter is accompanied by a typed translation, which has been annotated: 'transcription is dealers with pencil corrections by me MAS [Myrtle Anderson Smith].
