Administrative History | By the mid twentieth century there was a severe shortage of bodies available for teaching purposes in Scotland, due largely to a reduction in the number of 'unclaimed' bodies available via the traditional route of poorhouses and hospitals. In efforts to address the problem, medical schools turned increasingly to promotion of the Anatomy Act's provision for individuals to bequeath their bodies for medical research. |
