Includes a 'Return' letter, headed with The Under - Secretary of State, Whitehall & with the Home Office, Edinburgh, regarding 'Cruelty to Animals Act, 1876'. Contains a table headed: 'Total Number of Experiments Performed During the Year.' It shows what sort of licence (and/or) certificate was required for experimenting on various animals in:
'Experiments Performed Without Anaesthesia';
'Experiments Begun Under Anaesthesia with subsequent recovery';
'Experiments Wholly Under Anaesthesia';
