The 'Microscopic Slides' list appears to be very similar to the microscopic specimens list in MSU 1095/2/4, however, it also contains additional entries (numbers 281 - 343). Numbers 329 - 332 were 'presented by Dr Jas. Rust'.
The list on 'Radiograms' mention that some of the ?subjects were presented by J. McK. Davidson M. D., and John Marnoch M. D.
The list on 'Anatomical Preparations' appears to be very similar to the corresponding lists in MSU 1095/2/3-4, however it also contains some additional entries (numbers 166 - 172). No. 3 in the list mentions: 'Presented to Prof R. W. Reid [Professor Robert W Reid] 3 - VI - 99'.
The list on 'Surgical Instruments' appears to be very similar to the corresponding lists in MSU 1095/2/3-4. The list is annotated, 'Those marked [with a horizontal line] are removed from museum' and many of the entries are marked with 'out'. The list contains a great number of additional entries and some of the entries have been scored out. Includes surgical instruments numbers 377 - 405 (compound anaesthetic ether; benzoline; methylene dichloride & chloroform drop bottle etc), which have been scored out and annotated, 'Destroyed 8/11/1921'. Also, list mentions that a scalpal from box number 444 was 'worn out at Operative Class. Jany 21st 1899'. Also includes numbers 842 - 846 (relating to nerve and muscular paralysis), which were 'Presented by W. Langworthy. Lt ?.M.A.R.E. U.S.A.'. The list on 'Surgical Instruments' shows that the catalogue was written in different hands and added to in later years.
'Diagrams' appears to be very similar to the 'Alexdr [Alexander] Ogston's Diagrams' and 'Catalogue of Diagrams' lists in MSU 1095/2/4. The list of diagrams contains a great number of additional entries, including number 886 'Russian ambulance waggon'. This list also shows that the catalogue was written in different hands and added to in later years.
'Lantern Slides'.
The list of 'Photographs' appears to be very similar to 'Professor Alex: Ogston's Collection of Photographs' in MSU 1095/2/4, however there are a number of additional entries. Some entries are noted with the name of the person who presented the ?photographs, including Dr J. D. Thomson, Hankow; Dr Frank Ogston, Dunedin; Dr Crawford, Renton; Dr G. A. Williamson, Cyprus; Dr Sydney Burnett, Indian Medical Staff; Dr H. Fraser.
'Dr Pirrie's Collection' appears to be very similar to the corresponding collection in MSU 1095/2/4. The collection indicates the items, which were 'Removed to Basement floor Cupboards' or 'July 1914'.
'Ophthalmological Collection' - 'This collection of eyes was presented to the Surgery Department by Professor Dyce Davidson and mounted at the expense of the Surgery Department, it being agreed that Prof Davidson was to have the use of the specimens whenever he required them'. This is dated 6 November 1884 and signed by Alexander Ogston and Alexander Dyce Davidson. The collection indicates items, which were 'Removed to Basement floor Cupboards'.
'Alexander Ogston's Collection' appears to be very similar to the corresponding collection in MSU 1095/2/4. The collection contains a great number of additional entries and the collection indicates the items, which were 'Removed to Basement floor Cupboards' or '1915 for removal from collection'. Number 55 'Cancer of liver' is annotated, 'Destroyed April 1920'; number 56 'Suppuration & dilatation of pelvis of kidney is annotated, 'specimen destroyed 11/11/19' & number 289 'Venereal warts' is scored out and annotated, 'destroyed by mould'. There are some other items that have marked as being destroyed, most are dated 11/11/19 or April 1920. Number 131 'Chassepot cartridge + Bullet' is annotated, '(for. Franco - Prussian war 1870 - 71)'. Some of the entries mention the people who 'presented' them, including number 140 'presented by Dr Gordon [?or Garden] Alford' and number 248 'presented by Dr F. Ogston ?Jun'. Also, 'Prof R. W. Reid' presented a few. Numbers 1221 - 1228 [relating to various insects from Nigeria] were 'Presented to Prof. Arthur ?Momson for Natural Hisory Department ['presented by Dr Moir']'. Number 969 is: 'Finger torn from the hand by machine in Abdn [Aberdeen] Journal printing office'. The collection list was written in different hands, showing that it was added to in later years.
Includes reference to a couple of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary specimens and to 'Marnoch's Collection'.
