Administrative History | To Meet the MacGregors (1946) was the only musical comedy staged during the 1940s. Written by Eric Linklater, novelist and Rector of Aberdeen University from 1945-1948, it caused controversy when the traditional Monday night 'student' performance was met with pennies, flour bags and stink bombs from the 'Gods' of His Majesty's Theatre. These actions were denounced in the press by the Principal and the future of the student show at His Majesty's Theatre was put in jeopardy.
