DescriptionA letter, in French, giving a description of Charleston Carolina written by Jean Boyd. Translation in deposit file, titled: 'Jean Boyd's account of Carolina, endorsed in the hand of James Fraser (1645 - 1751), major benefactor to King's College Library, 'a letter giving the account of Carolina in the West Indies written by an ingenious French gentleman to Mr Fraser, Anno 1691'. The map drawn in the letter is thought to be the earliest known map of Charleston, Carolina. With an accompanying letter.
