Letter 1 - A letter from J.E. Burns and signed Bob (an early member of the Editorial team for Physics in Medicine and Biology and a contributor to the 50th edition) congratulating Professor Mallard on his article in the 50th Anniversary Edition of PMB, expressing his delight at meeting him at the Wellcome Witness Seminar the previous July and commenting that many feel that Professor Mallard has not been properly recognised for his work. In an aside he points out that Peter the Simple has been trumped in an article by Mayneord as the earliest Physicist by Democritus in 450 B.C.
Letter 2 - A letter from Professor Mallard to Professor Alun Beddoe thanking him for sending a copy of the 50th Anniversary issue of Physics in Medicine and Biology and thanking him for his significant contribution to enhancing PMB during his time as editor. Professor Mallard also comments on Sir Peter Mansfield's comment that PMB is an "obscure journal" with some irritation.
Letter 3 - A letter from Alun Beddoe thanking Professor Mallard for his letter and agreeing that "Nobel Prize winners forget, when bathing in the adulation bestowed on them by a society hungry for super-heroes, that they have stood side by side with others who have contributed equally to the development of a field!".
