| Description | The original typescript and figures for Professor Mallard's contribution to the book 'Scientific Europe: research and technology in 20 countries', 1990. This is published by the Foundation Scientific Europe: the Netherlands. European Science Foundation, Strasbourg. Professor Mallard's section is entitled 'Medical Imaging: Technologies for a plainer view of the living human body' and is Chapter 8 of part 7 which is entitled 'Heirs of Pasteur', pages 366-373. Included are three photocopied pages from the chapter.
This also includes photocopies of the prospective figures for the chapter and a letter to the editor Nigel Calder dated 30 May 1986 discussing changes to Professor Mallard's text. At the end of the letter is a handwritten note "I apologise for the delay. The UGC cuts have caused chaos and despair and we are all subjected to interminable time-wasting working parties and meddling ninnies. I just cannot concentrate'.
