Administrative History | Ronald Patrick Cumming (born Golspie, 15 August 1923) graduated M.B, Ch.B. from the University of Aberdeen in 1945 and took up his first post as assistant G.P in Huntly. He followed this with assistant in the Department of Anatomy in 1947. He was assistant G.P in Rhynie in 1949, Junior Surgical Officer at Ronkswood Hospital, Worcester in 1950 then Senior House Officer and Registrar at Victoria Hospital, Burnley. He obtained his F.R.C.S in 1952 from Edinburgh. He became Senior Registrar at Aberdeen General Hospital and was appointed Consultant Surgeon to the Shetland Isles in 1957. He worked on there in the 1970s and 1980s. He was also a member of the British Medical Association North Sea Oil Working Party in the 1970s. He was made a Fellow of the British Medical Association in March 1982 on nomination of the Shetland branch of the British Medical Association. He died in 2007. |
