Author's explanation: This was the time that the tumble dryers in the laundry were to be replaced. The new dryers were on a boat so the old dryers were stripped out and skipped. When the new dryers were unloaded and unpacked they were found to be the wrong type i.e. wrong voltage and frequency. So we had to go for a good few days with no dryers til replacements were urgently sought.
