Guidance on the inspection procedure for the platform to balance safety with a viable work schedule, and in particular highlighting areas considered most vulnerable to damage or deterioration. It justifies the recommendations for which parts of the platform are to be inspected, how and how often. It includes an introduction; a description of the platform and its construction statistics; governmental and Lloyd's Register inspection requirements; different types of deterioration potentially affecting the platform; 'critical' points considered from a design, construction and operational perspective; inspection standards and techniques; inspection schedules; records of inspection; and the frequency, results and appraisals of various structures inspected and method used since the previous manual was issued.
