Description | Letter from David Skene to John Ellis in which he thanks him for the plate of dionaea muscipula (venus fly trap) and suggests that proper experiments on this plant would afford some curious insights, especially in regard to the insects it catches; he goes on to discuss plant nutrition; he is glad that Ellis is to begin his book and asks if he proposes to mention zoophytes; he discusses arrangements of systems of Natural History with reference to Linnaeus and Buffon; he asks for works of Borlase and Albin to be sent, 5 October 1768. |
