Description | Letter from George Skene, Hope, to David Skene in which he remarks that he is happy to find that his brother has altered his opinion in every way and states that he prefers his advice to money; he is sailing from Gravesend to Downs; he has not been examined as the East India Company have offended the [College of] Surgeons and the Surgeons therefore will not consent to examine anyone employed by the company; he is concerned as to whether trade will clear his expenses as his pay is only 30 shillings a month; he reassures his brother that he intends to study during the voyage, 15 December 1769. |
