Description | Letter from George Skene, London, to David Skene in which he states that he has been advised not to take the surgency owing to his too youthful appearance so he will keep his berth on Bridgewater; the ship may leave at the end of the week; he is surprised and concerned that he has received no reply from his brother concerning his request for money, he hopes that no difference has arisen between them; he has borrowed £160 from Sir Archibald Grant who will apply to David Skene for repayment; dollars and porter will be his cargo; he offers to collect on behalf of his brother so as to enlarge his collection of curios, 5 December 1769. |
