Description | Letter from David Skene, Uppingham, to his father, Andrew Skene, in which he describes his journey so far; they stopped in Cambridge where the professors made them welcome; saw a ceremony where the Lord High Chancellor was created Doctor of Laws by the Duke of Newcastle, chancellor of the University, and five young noblemen were created Masters of Arts; he is currently staying with John Fordyce in Uppingham, 17 June 1753. |
