DescriptionLetter from David Skene to his father, Andrew Skene, in which he describes attendance with Smellie at deliveries, stating that his only grievance is that Smellie makes him travel about all hours of the night but that he has been present at a good many deliveries and that it is his turn to deliver next; Smellie's principal 'benefit' is from his 'extremely ingenious' machines which 'imitate so exactly a natural birth'; Smellie's lectures are extremely expensive, he requests another 7 guineas; Hunter's lectures proceed gradually, they are almost done with myology; he describes his finances, he is finding London very expensive; he mentions their acquaintances, 20 November 1752.
