Date | 6 March 1752 |
Extent | 1 item |
Description | Letter from John Ross, Emden, to David Skene in which he gives Skene a history of the company and discusses the directors of the Emden Company; he is scathing about the personal qualities and the abilities of the Emden-based directors; he describes his examination for surgeon; he describes incidents involving one of the company ships including the sacking of 'every officer they had on board who was suspected to be capable of doing his duty' and new officers appointed; there is no probability of his going out this season as both men and money are lacking; he feels his future prospects depend on the upcoming general meeting, 6 March 1752. |
