DescriptionLetter from John Hope to David Skene in which he discusses rheum palmatum; he has obtained seeds, distributed them amongst his friends and they have thrived well; he discusses Linnaeus' treatment of the plan and states that Linnaean names will probably not be adopted in the new edition of 'Dispensatory...' as he thinks Linnaeus may change them over the years; he has communicated the contents of Skene's letter regarding the infirmary to George Drummond who will look into it; he criticises activities of Mr. Freer, who is acting contrary to his opinion in publishing list of indigenous plants around Edinburgh; he discusses the professorship available at Edinburgh remarking that people are beginning to think that Dr Gregory will be the man; he asks if Skene is in contact with John Ellis; he introduces Mr. Rhodes, mate to Lord George Lennox's regiment; he refers to Mr. Garden of Troup, 27 April 1765.
