| Description | Hardback notebook, marked at one end across the pages "VOL II" and, on flyleaf inside, marked "Lovedale, 30th August 1942" and signed by Macartney. Contains sermons, Orders of service and prayers in pencil in the hand of Macartney: most of the sermons are on the Psalms. Some sermons marked with date and/or location, some also marked with another location and later date, when it appears the sermon was preached again. Special occasions include Prayer meetings and First Communion. Some prayers are specifically for intercession for staff and patients in hospitals. Loose papers include outline of meeting for prayer to win the war, also an invitation from W.A.H. Chester, Inspector of Schools, for Macartney to be a commissioner for the Standard VI (Native) Examination at the Lovedale Practising School. |
