DescriptionLetter to Anne Gordon from her brother Alexander, St Croix, explaining that he had been unable to travel home at the end of the war because of a financial loss which can only be settled in Denmark, their brother Andrew’s health has been indifferent but he is better, their brother Francis is sailing soon for Copenhagen, 1 August 1766. On outside is part of a draft letter to ‘My Lord’ from Anne Gordon regarding her propinquity to the late Mr Gerrard as described in his ‘whimsical will’ – ‘I suppose every person will allow my Father is my Father whether dead or alive why should any man lay aside justice and fact to found upon a Hypothesis’, n.d.
