DescriptionLetter to Anna Gordon from her brother Alexander, Copenhagen, hoping she was able to have a power of attorney made up, journey to Copenhagen ‘a vast tract of barren heaths and sandy deserts, where nothing presents itself to the view but a continued scene of poverty and wretchedness,’ grateful to the Baron von Prock for his support, his case is looking quite good but he will be philosophical if he fails, hoping he will be able to stay in Europe for his next scheme, which will involve settling in Copenhagen, his case will not come up until March, and after it he will sail for Leith, war declared between Russia and Turkey, Corsica and French, and trouble in Poland, 1 December 1768
