Description | Sir Robert Gordon (1825 – 1908), 10th laird, succeeded his brother William in 1861, though he had for some time taken a hand in the running of the estates when his brother was absent or unwell. He had particular interest in the fishing village of Nether Buckie. Like his brother, he suffered ill health and lived a retired life with his sister Alexandrina at Letterfourie, where he translated and published a book on education from German and may have written other books. He was a devout and active Roman Catholic. He died unmarried in 1908, and the estates, but not the baronetcy, passed to his great-nephew, Patrick Gordon Shee. |
