| Description | Papers relating to James and Alexander Gordon 6th and 7th lairds of Letterfourie. These two brothers worked together in the madeira wine trade and shared responsibility for the lands in Banffshire. James died unmarried in 1790 and Alexander succeeded him: in 1778 he married Helen Russell who bore him at least three children, Sir James, Alexander (died 1810) and Charles (died 1805).
