| Description | James Duff, nephew of James Gordon of Letterfourie, joined Alexander Gordon & Co. in Madeira. He married Nansie Gordon, daughter of Gordon of Glastirum. They had three children in Madeira, Jane, James and a second daughter, before Nansie died in 1788. James later worked for the company in London, where he collected and preserved the letters sent by his brother Patrick, in order to distribute them to his family. |
