Containing second part of long copy letter from Patrick Duff, Fort William (Bengal) to his brother James (much faded), with mention of Mr Hastings, parcel of fine muslins, hoping that Mrs Duff will approve of them, asking for some to be sent on to the wife of his uncle Alexander Gordon, glad to hear news of him and that he has another son, ‘it is some encouragement for old folks to marry but by the time I return I fear I shall be too much worn out to venture on something of that sort’, relying on James to keep the family going, news of their brothers William and John, he has sent four pieces of Madras long cloth to Robert for a shirt, mention of finding out about John Taylor and his situation, mention of doing wine business with Mr Colvin, further discussion of prospects of wine business, 20 December 1785 |
