Duff at Madeira J.D. with a short letter from me to James Gordon Esq.’ Contains first part of long copy letter from Patrick Duff, Fort William (Bengal) to his brother James in London explaining that he has decided to remain in India, introducing Mr Wilson, chief engineer, a rich man from trade but not very friendly, trying to find out about Sergeant Cantlay’s estate (much faded) [20 December 1785]
