DescriptionLetter to James Gordon of Letterfourie from his nephew, Patrick Duff, Fort William [India], thanking him for his letter and support, mention of a Mr Grant whom he has taken into his house ‘until he is provided for’, hoping to visit Gordon, enjoying prosperity and good health, ‘James made me very happy by telling me you was so good to take some notice of a Little black boy I sent home to his care. These things you know will sometimes happen, however I have been lucky enough to have only this and one other boy who I will also send home this year for as they have come I mean to do them justice by giving them a good education and putting them out properly into the world with a couple of thousand pounds each when I die or before if they have occasion for it’, glad Mrs Gordon liked the muslin, 10 August 1785
