DescriptionLetter to James Gordon from Alexander Grant of Tochineal, Cullen, with plan to pay off some of the capital of the debt to Dr Gordon whose wife is a particular friend of Grant’s, news of ‘Priest Gordon’s fate, how he had married a Pedlars Daughter in Fordyce’, his estate [Birkenbush?] would be a good purchase for Gordon, ‘the Priest gave his brother George a bill of 20,000 merks before he married Glengarrack’s daughter who died hastily without making any settlement on his affairs, Logie says that Buckie intends to improve the moors but has not consulted Grant, asking Gordon to ask his brother for advice as he knows the place best, the mosses are shared by the tenants of Gordon, Buckie, Aberlour and Cairnfield, William Grant is back from Jamaica and now goes to Guinea and Barbary Coast, where he plans to settle as manager of a plantation for Grant of Dalvey, sorry to have troubled Gordon with Rannie’s parcel of linen for sale, the crop is looking quite good inland but prices are low, 2 September 1754
