DescriptionLetter to Alexander Gordon, Letterfourie, from his brother James, London, listing hams and tongues gone north with McKilligin, Alexander will have to send to Banff for them as the smacks do not always call at Portsoy on the way up but often if the wind suits better on the way back much later, happy to take on Cairnbanno, ‘everything will be transacted betwixt us with union and perfect harmony and agreement’, mention of financial arrangements, ‘my Capital being diminished by expences of building and everything else done about the old Duchus; of this enough’, trying to clear all his debts, and to avoid undue charges on Walkerdales, wondering what to do with John Duff, wishing he could be got out to the West Indies but he is too slow to be a house carpenter or a millwright, begging Alexander not to send another young fellow his way as if he recommended him for any situation he would be disgraced, better to make him a soldier where he will be shot for desertion, plans to send mahogany by Portsoy, 8 May 1777
