DescriptionTwo copy letters from Alexander Gordon in Madeira to his brother James Gordon of Letterfourie: first, glad to hear that he has arrived safely in London and hopes he will find the place and climate all right, sending letter by the Windsor Man of War, Captain Cleveland is in a hurry to go before the weather changes, delivery of oil from Lisbon, thinking of appointing a buyer in Lisbon, order for Irish Camblets, supply of wheat for islands, bills for wine deliveries, a lack of fresh provisions has allowed him to sell some of their bad beef but not the butter, passing on request for mazarine blue cloth, 14 December 1760, with wrapper for actual letter; second, thanking for letters from November, good supply of grain, intending to keep a list of shipping so as not to have to mention it in letters, rid of all the beef, supply of fish but no pilchards or herring, wine prices settled by the factory, financial arrangements, mention of Francis sending a vessel to Lisbon, not good wine this year, order for oil, complaint from Henry Totcher junior in Plymouth about certificates for flour, asking for two bombos and a bung border, wooden and iron hoops, 20 January 1761
