DescriptionLetter to James Gordon of Letterfourie, London, from Daniel Henry Smith, Madeira, regarding contents of previous letters, arrangements for Shand’s payment and for shipping wine, India business and problems with discounts, new law prohibits those houses without shops to sell goods in the house or in the street, which is a good thing, asking for provisions in the spring if America is not settled, fish is scarce, sorry that their friends in Barbados have not sent any this year, the Corregidor has seen Dr Gordon’s glasses and wants two pairs for himself, made by Martin mathematical instrument maker in Fleet Street and called peeble [pebble?] spectacles No. 36, 15 November 1775
