DescriptionCopy letter to James Gordon of Letterfourie, London, from Alexander Gordon & Co., Madeira, regarding letters and bills sent, opportunities for shipping wine, complaining of a very silly, disobliging man, Tobin, favour to Reid for helping with Tobin, changes in shipping arrangements which he trusts will please, surprised that Mr Donaldson kept a watch much longer than he should have, glad to hear that more staves and pipes are on the way, shipping arrivals and trade gossip, land purchases in Madeira, arrival of pilchards, request for Scottish herring as the Gothenburg supplies are finished and were very poor, supply of oil due, urgent need of various brushes, asking for a silver watch worth about five or six pounds, list of their own shipping since he last wrote, and remittances, 9 May 1772
