DescriptionCopy letter to James Gordon, London, from his brother Alexander, Madeira, regarding letters, sales of beef and pork, good quantity of wine to fulfil orders, arrangements for doing that, financial arrangements, problems doing business with Joao Fr. de Freitas, hoping to send wines to Maynes before the rains come, sending onions and onion seed, would be pleased to have some herring, but they must be well packed, shortage of flax from Gothenburg, hoping for supply of iron, asking James to call in Hull on his way to or from Scotland to see what supplies can be ordered there, delay to a pipe of wine going to Tobago, Lord Adam Gordon has a number of plants going on this ship, sorry to hear of James’ unhappiness but recommends he be patient, list of bills, 25 June 1766; letter from same to same, regarding quiet trade, only orders are for malmsey which they do not yet have, limited quantities of wheat and flour, plenty of Irish provisions but they are expensive, asking James to reconsider herring, asking for flax, and for a basin and ewer, three swords, and drab coffee colour cloth, 8 July 1766
