Administrative HistoryThe family meat processing business, Lawsons of Dyce, was started in Dumfermline in 1906 by Mrs McKay's grandfather, Robert Lawson. Meat was imported, largely from Poland, and processed on site for distribution to the domestic market. Robert Lawson's sons, Frank and Robert (Mrs MacKay's father) carried on the business and opened a state-of-the-art factory in Victoria Street, Dyce, in the early 1930s. Parkhill Farm was purchased by Robert (possibly in the 1950s) and operated as a mixed arable and livestock concern. However, it principally farmed the pigs for the Dyce factory.
SourceDeposited by Mrs McKay, daughter of Robert Lawson, in 2003.
