Mitchell & Co., Newcastle; iron paddle; built for North British Railway Company as 'Waverley' for Silloth - Belfast services acquaired and re-named 1865; sold 1904 to L. F. Imossi, Gibraltar and named 'Magnus'; broken up 1913. S.S. 'St Magnus' [II] (809 tons), built in 1912 by Ramage & Ferguson Ltd., Leith; sunk 1917 off Peterhead by enemy action 5 lives lost; survivors landed at Peterhead. 'St Magnus' [III] (1312 tons), built 1924 by Hall Russell & Co., Aberdeen damaged in air attack 1st April 1941 off Tod Head; again 30th Oct. 1942, 5 miles South-west of Fair Isle. S.S. 'St Nicholas' (787 tons), built in 1871 by J. G. Lawrie & Co., Glasgow; iron built; wrecked near Wick in June 1914. |
