In most cases one column of newsprint has been pasted on each page, leaving the original contents of the notebook visible on either side. These include university lecture notes and devotional material. William Pirie Smith, William Robertson Smith, George Michie Smith and John G. Adams wrote the original content of the notebooks, and the cuttings collection was compiled by William Pirie Smith or one of his sons. |
