Administrative History | Sir David Campbell (1889 - 1978) was educated at Ayr Academy, Glasgow University and Johns Hopkins University. He began his medical career in Glasgow in 1915, but moved to Aberdeen in 1930 to take up his appointment as Regius Professor of Materia Medica and honorary physician to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. He remained here until his retirement in 1959, also serving as Dean of the Medical Faculty, 1932 - 1939. He was president of the General Medical Council, 1949 - 1961, received his knighthood in 1953 and honorary degrees from Glasgow, Dublin, Liverpool, Aberdeen and Dublin. He published widely on pharmacological and therapeutic subjects. |
