Creator NameAlexander Logie Stalker (1920 - 1987), Professor of Pathology, University of Aberdeen, 1969 - 1982
Administrative HistoryStalker's work on anti-lymphocytic and anti-reticular sera built upon research published by Cruickshank in 1942, in which he described the preparation of an antiserum in rabbits against rat lymphocytes. Stalker's objective was to confirm Cruickshank's findings and to assess the possibility of preparing a serum against rabbit lymph nodes, in order to observe the growth and general behaviour of the Brown-Pearce transplantable rabbit carcinoma in animals with 'lymphoid deficiency.'
DescriptionNotes, results and analysis of research on anti-lymphocytic and anti-reticular sera, including typescript paper describing pilot experiment 'undertaken to perfect the technique' and composite photomicrographs of lymphocytes, 1948 - 1949.
AppraisalOriginal envelope containing 'composite photomicrographs of lymphocytes' has been repalced with acid free envelope. Original envelope carried date of April 1969, but its contents appear contemporary with rest of file, c 1948 - 1949.
