Title | Letter from Lieutenant-Colonel Macleod sending a rather pessimistic report on his position. |
Date | April 13th 1807 |
Description | The bombardment is not having the expected result. He understands that Mahomet Ali is not in Cairo. The Mamelucks had bespoken 'germas' for the transport of their baggage. There are probably not more than 600 Turks and Albanians in Cairo though there are about 70 to 60 British P.O.Ws there. Stuart (Stewart) has gone to reconnoitre St Julian. |
