Congratulates recipient's lady on being brought to bed and wishes her a rapid recovery; sends crystal servers, tumblers, sillibub glasses and the best ham he could get in town ('they are very deir'): the silver spoons were bought by receipient's sister in law; there is not a good lemon or orange in town under 5s the piece; the salmon received from recipient was poor, all little grilses; great preparations for sitting of parliament.

Also contains scroll letters addressed 'my' lord' and 'David', ending with note: 'dear heart, coppie over thes thre letters and I shall be home furthwith, yours W.B.'.
