DescriptionPapers of Major William Burnett, 17th century. Including:

Petition to Privy Council of dame Elizabeth Coutis, lady Leyes, for a modification as a competent provision for maintenance and education of her daughter,(left unprovided for by death of Sir Alexander Burnet of Leyes,her father, of a fever), aged 14, neglected by the tutor of Leyes, in whose charge she is, both as to apparel and breeding, so that her mother was forced to remove her from a "landwart schole" and settle her in Aberdeen.

Receipt by George Porteous, herald painter, boxmaster to Marie Chapel, to Rachel Kirkwood, relict of William Douglass, advocate, for £53 scots as one term's rent of a dwelling house possessed by her pertaining to said incorporation. Edinburgh, 3rd January,1677.

Discharge by Alexander Hepburn, slater, burgess in Dumbartoun, to William Douglas in Inveraray, of all compts predeeding this date, and for £39 12s 4d scots, to be allowed in first end of his account, 11th January 1661.
With similar discharge of £39 19s scots to be allowed in next account of slate won in isle of Easdaill, 8th November 1661.

Discharge by George Rankin, mason in Leith, to Rachel Kirkwood, relict of Mr William Douglas, advocate, of £80 scots in payment of good[illegible adjective] stone laid at his land in Leith, 31st December 1675.

Discharge by John McWilliam, slater in Leith, to Mr William Douglas,advocate, of payment for all work wrought for him, 23rd May 1671.

Discharge by Edward Gillespie, collector of seatrents of kirks of Edinburgh, to Mr William Douglas, advocate, for rent of seats in Mr Robert Lowrie's kirk and the Tron Kirk, 1660-3, as well as for his seat in the College kirk, 1663-4, 18th April 1663.
