Robert Burnett, his brother, describing life in France, and complaining that he has to spend his time making a living teaching children instead of studying law., particularly since his father does not wish to spend more money on him than absolutely necessary. Casteres, 24 November 1611.
Duncan Burnett, his cousin, on social and family matters, Norwich, 1610-11, includes incomplete letter, presumably to same correspondent, giving a number of prescriptions for medicine to combat child bed fever and kidney stones suffered by the recipient's wife. Undated.
The Earl of Tillibarden to Sir Thomas Burnett of Leys, concerning money owed to Sir Thomas Burnett, and expressing his wish that he should come to Edinburgh soon for the Parliament, 'for I cannot forget what I have heard the Duke of Hamilton say, that members who desyre the good of their country ought not to be absent, for tho they cannot gett all the good done they wish, yet they may prevent hurt', 9 August 1698.
