2. Letter (holograph) from King Charles II to Captain Inglish ordering him to withdraw soldiers quartered on the land of Leys Burnett who had been falsely accused of failing to supply men for the army. Dunfermlyne, 12 April 1651. (In custody of the National Trust).
3. Letter from William, Earl of Marischal, to Sir Thomas Burnett of Leys, asking him to send his best horses, men and arms to Dunoter 'seing you ar not abell your selph for the feilds'. Dunoter 5 October 1650. (In custody of the National Trust).
4. Order by Major General Middletone, by authority of the commitee of estates, following on supplication by Sir Thomas Burnet of Leys and others, heritors and gentlemen of the parishes of Banchory, Straquhan, and Kincardyne, for exemption from payment of public levies and burdens upon their undertaking to employ half their mounted and foot soldiers to put down the invasions of the highlanders on their lands. 10 June 1645. 5. Act of 'The Committee of prices and moneyis for the northe' ordering that payment of maintenance by Sir Thomas Burnet, elder, of Leys, be suspended because of the 'burning and waisting' of their lands. 23 October 1646. (In custody of the National Trust).
