DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, 7 Via Venti Settembre, Rome, to her relatives, regarding her own lethargy; Uncle's attendance at the Wesleyan service to see Mr. Piggott about the distribution of Gospels; time spent acquiring passport photographs and visiting; Uncle had prevented them having their photographs done earlier when he had to have his own done for going to Leghorn; her photographs have been very unsuccessful; they need three sets, one for the British Consul, one for the French Consul, and one to fix to the passport; list of details to be written on passport; Uncle's dispute with Walker over parts of the Bible to be distributed to Italian soldiers, funded by the Scotch Bible Society; Walker is vindictive and rude; he is resigning at Christmas because his family need his authority; Mr. Gibson laughs at his arrogance; Uncle has the intention of forming depots in the north, but a local pastor writes to say they would be abused; a local priest in Cardano has apparently burned 2,000 Scriptures; Uncle has apparently made some commitment as regards Bible distribution and was trying to make their holiday plans fit with it; visitors are as bad as fleas; travel plans, including a possible stop at Annecy to see her old quarters overlooking the lake; looking forward to spending the first week of the holiday sleeping; attempts to keep their destination a secret; thanks to Aunt Amy for cards and letter and the booklets; death of Mr. Mitchell of Enniskillen, who had been at Leghorn earlier in the season; she is still reacting badly to insect bites; she has said goodbye for now to Mr. Green; carpet repairs; preparations for their absence - camphor in the clothes, etc.; throwing things away to tidy up; Maria has come up to complain of Fulvio's laziness.
