| Description | Cardboard box of index cards (approximately 9cm x 6cm) for the publication of the inscriptions in MAMA volume VII
The box, formerly containing Lawson's "Perfecton" pork pies, has a paper label with "MAMA VII Illustrations" in blue pencil. Some of the cards are bundled with string or rubber bands (now perished) but most are loose. There appear to be at least two sequences: one with a Greek word in pencil with a three-digit number reference; another with a place-name and two-character reference in ink, with a stamped numerical reference in red ink. In some cases both sequences appear on either side of the same card. Some visiting cards have also been used as index cards.
In the bottom of the box are thirteen envelopes and two sheets of paper, evidently used in an indexing process, The envelopes are postmarked 1958 and 1959 and all addressed to Calder at Dunphail; all are marked with a circled number between 1 aned 14 in red pencil. anda listof 2- or 3-digit reference numbers in pencil. The two sheets of paper also have lists of references, with some comments. |
