The envelope also contains a letter from CWM Cox to Calder dated 3 October 1924, accompanying t5he photographs and discussing Cox's plans. Also letter to Calder from Julian Palmer dated Club de Constantinople, Péra, Constantinople, 9 September 1924, enclosing an article (not present) and also saying that he is about to marry a Turkish girl, and as he wishes to stay in Turkey he is converting to Islam; Turkish laws at the time forbid a Muslim woman to remain in Turkey if she marries a non-Muslim announcing his intention to marry a Turkish woman and convert to Islam. |
