DescriptionBundle of four field notebooks, undated and 1925:

1. Black notebook, undated; transcriptions not numbered. The notnook starts with a few notes on costs, a ground plan of a building and a copy of "Gemen Milestone about 1 3/4 pt Kain"; then moves to 'Near Hieron' [i.e. Uzunjaburj]; many of the transcriptions not published in MAMA, for example the text for the Maximinian games; some unpublished, including a number from a Christian Church near Hieron; towards end: MI.437.

2. Black notebook, signed "WM Calder Brasenose Coll. Oxford England", undated; transcriptions not numbered. Calder, at Brasenose College, Oxford. Transcriptions, with MAMA I numbers later added to some, covering journey Konia -Ladik-Kadyn. Many of the transcriptions do not appear in MAMA; some do, but MAMA number has not been added in the notebook (for example inscriptions from Ladik MI.167 and from Khan MI.267). In poket at start, three photographs of two sites.

3. Red notebook dated 1925 in pencil.. Opens with description of bomos at Konia and reference to squeeze taken by Law and McDonald; also a milestone at Konia with reference to squeeze taken by Law and McDonald; then sequence of inscriptions numbered 1-118. Most inscriptions from Ladik (eg 3=MI.251, 60=MI.153, 62=MI.259, 63=MI.217, 64=MI.62, 82=MI.155, 118=MI.220) but 59-62 noted as Bozuk Kuyu and 83 as 'Bosuk Kuyu Ladik ca 1 1/4 hrs.' 59 and 60 have 'defer' written in blue pencil (yet 60=MI.153); some have circled new number added in ink.

4. Black notebook dated in pencil 1925. 1-132 Angora-Konia-Akji Shahr-Choghu, back to Konia and some notes from Cox, from Angora. . Some notes of photographs takens by Barbara [Buckler, later Wrinch]. Most but not all of the transcriptions published in MAMA (e.g. 130=MI.436). Includes coin tracings on separate sheet. Later working over notes indicated by blue pencil numberings, and squeeze numbers given as circled number in black ink.
