DescriptionBundle of five notebooks, as follows:

1. Black notebook, unsigned and undated. The latest date mentioned is 1924 It covers Bahadinlar, Orla Koi, Bekilli, Ishiklu' Inscriptions are numbered in the notebook, and item 172 has the additional note that the white marble tablet was "purchased at Synnada" (subsequently MAMA 4.93). The notebook also occasional provides local stories, and addresses of local officials to whom copies of photographs are to be sent. Formerly Box 3/8/1

2. Squared paper jotting pad with tear-off shets, unsigned and undated. Only the first 26 pages used; the first few pages are present but detached. It contains inscriptions written in ink in lower case letters, probably fair versions of field work. The inscriptions seem to be from Baghlija; a number were subsequently published in MAMA (eg 1.417, 418, 429). Formerly Box 3/8/2

3. Black notebook with "Notes" in gold on the front cover, unsigned and undated; contains only three inscriptions (corresponding to with graph paper pages and small pencil held in side sleeve; only three inscriptions recorded (published in MAMA 1.313, 314, 316). Formerly Box 3/8/3

4. Brown jotting book, unsigned and undated, empty except for three pages of figures (times, distances, elevations) on terrain between Ankara and Konya. Formerly Box 3/8/4

5. Black notebook, undated but signed "WM Calder British School Athens", containing Greek lexigraphical notes, variant forms and the like at the start. There is a rough sketch map of a site in the middle, and some general notes and calculations relating to Cyrus's journey to Tarsus at the end. There are also observations on the river Melos, and one or two transcriptions. Loosely enclosed, a letter of thanks to Calder for his donation of a book (Ramsay's Cities of St Paul) to the British School at Athens dated August 28th 1908. Also loose sheets with notes on the route of Xerxes plus notes on three cities/areas: Nicomedia, Telipyrgia Tyana to Caesarea, mainly about roads and including references to the Peutinger table.
