DescriptionDiary of 1924, by Calder, second volume. Thurs May 22 Angora/Ankara to Friday 27 June Kara Sandytely, Dodurga and Kolih Hissar.
Initially Calder is based in Ankara, waiting for travel permits. Meetings with officials, visits to local sites, discussions of incriptions. He then moves on to the region around Konya (Iconium), identifying ancient sites. A pencil sketch in the entry for 10 June shows "Lake Torgilis from Sedasa". Calder leaves Konya on the 18th, having spent the previous two days buying maps, making squeezes and getting money from the bank, and on the 22nd Calder, Buckler, and Cox are in Kutahia/Kütahya, and from there his route is described as on to Kara Sandytely, Dodurga and Kolih Hissar.
