Administrative History | In August - September 1954, the University funded Lockhart and Taffy Davidson on a month-long tour of museums in Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, to gain an understanding of current developments in museum curatorship and building design. The tour appears to have included both University and non-University museums, with several University Anatomy Departments also included in the itinerary (including Leiden, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Copenhagen, Lund, Stockholm, Uppsala, Goteburg and Oslo). |
Description | File containing details of travel arrangements and itinerary for Lockhart's 'European Tour', including correspondence to his secretary, souvenirs gathered on the trip and notes for lecture entitled 'Busman's Holiday.'
A list of towns and cities visited and a separate list of Universities and their hosts is included in the file. Correspondence from Lockhart to his secretary, Miss Hadaway, contains some detailed descriptions of the places and people that they visited, with some affectionate and amusing commentary upon his travelling companion. |
